Mary Ellen Maillette

Mary E. (Prutchick Devroye) Maillette, age 96, of Caseville, died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe where she had been a resident for the past 7 years.

Mary was born September 21, 1913 in Angleton, Texas to the late Jacob and Eva (Houka) Prutchick. Her family moved to Caseville when she was a child. She was married to Robert Devroye from 1932 to 1950. She lived in Bay City from 1950 until 1991. Mary married Edward Maillette in 1955. He preceded her in death in 1990. Following Edward’s death, she moved back to Caseville to be near her son. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and homemaking.

She is survived by her son Jim Devroye of Caseville; grandchildren Richard (Lisa) Harris of Ann Arbor, Jim (Brigid) Conrad of Wixom, Ron (Dianne) Harris of Brighton, Mary (Doug) Ziel of Caseville and Michael (Janet) Devroye of Pigeon; 6 great-grandchildren; and her sister Helen Kish of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary McGravey.

Burial will be Thursday, January 7, 2010 at St. Patrick Cemetery in Bay City.

Visitation will be 3-8 pm Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville.
