Mary E. Michalski, 80, of Pigeon, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.
Mary was born February 5, 1943 in Bad Axe to the late Glenn and Thelma (Hebner) Smithers. She graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1962. Mary worked for General Cable in Cass City for 35 years and as a clerk at the Caseville Family Market for 28 years. Mary enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends, cooking, yard work, quilting, sewing, knitting and bird watching. She made friends quickly and was kind and generous to everyone she met. She opened her home to host 8 foreign exchange students.
Mary is survived by her children Diane (Jack) Guza of Potterville and Scott Michalski of Pigeon; grandchildren Heather (David) Hellebuyck, Jason Guza, Nicole Guza, Ashley Guza, Scott (Autumn) Michalski, Kayla, (Matt) Lundgren, LeeAnn (Anthony)Vincent; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brothers Bob (Marlene) Smithers of Bad Axe and Jerry (Carol) Smithers of Bad Axe; sisters Vernita Armstead of Flint, Lou Smithers of Westland, and Kathy Hunger of Westland; sisters-in-law Karen Smithers of Elkton and Donna Smithers of Kinde. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years Ronald, son Ronald, brothers Glenn Smithers, Orville “Pat” Smithers, and brother-in-law Sherman Armstead.
Funeral services will be at 4:00pm Wednesday, November 1st at the Champagne Funeral Chapel with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Interment will be in Colfax Twp Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00am and continue until the time of the service on Wednesday.
