Mary Katherine “Kay” Roth, 79, of Caseville, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw.

Kay was born June 1, 1943 in Detroit to the late Jerome and Harriet (Clinesmith) Henze.  She married Gary Roth on November 21, 1964 in East Detroit; he preceded her in death on July 5, 2015.  Kay moved permanently from Sterling Heights to Caseville in 1999. Kay loved her family, friends and neighbors, time spent gardening, feeding hummingbirds, baking family birthday cakes with her famous frosting, and wintering in South Padre Island, Texas.  She was a member of the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.

Kay is survived by her children Chris (Pam Gabriel) of Port Austin and Shelley (Ed) Komeshak of Holly; grandchildren Dylan Roth, Mary Katherine Komeshak, Lauren Komeshak and Michael (Claudia) Gabriel.   She was preceded in death by her sister Lynn Winterhalder.

A funeral mass will be at 11:00am Monday, May 8, at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. George Amos presiding.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.  Visitation will be Noon to 6:00pm Sunday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon with an Eagles Auxiliary Ritual at 5:00pm Sunday.

The family would like to thank the staff at Covenant Cooper Hospital, Scheurer Hospital, and Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute for their compassionate care during Kay’s illness.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
