Mary Esther Schuman, 90, of Caseville, passed from her earthly home on September 17, 2011 to join her first husband, Ed Scritchfield, who gave his life for our country during World War II, and her second husband, Richard, along with her loving daughter Patti, who have been awaiting her arrival in heaven.
Mary had been lovingly care for with kind hands and warm hearts by the staff at both Country Gardens and Long Term Care in Pigeon.
Mary spent her life caring for her family of seven children, Dianne (the late Dan) Gualdoni of Shelby Twp, Ed Scritchfield and Alice Miles of West Bloomfield, Kathy (Mark) Krebs of Caseville, Jan (Rick) Kraus of Clinton Twp, Nance Schuman of Northport and Gregory Schuman of Caseville; grandchildren Kevin (Laura), Beth (Donn), Alison, Emily, Ben (Suzette), Sarah, Garett (Kristi), the late Heather, Molly (Corey), Brian (Noelle), David, and Mark; and eight great-grandchildren.
Prior to moving to Caseville in 1992, Mary made homes in Kansas City, Missouri, Harper Woods, Hadley and Lapeer. Mary was a devout Catholic and her joy came from sharing time with her family and friends.
Mary has enjoyed being out of the kitchen for a few years, but now she’ll be busy frying all those fish that dad and Patti have been catching. (And Mom, now you won’t need that walker and you can wear any shoes you want.)
A visitation was held on Sunday, September 18th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. The funeral mass took place at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Macomb County and the burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
