Mary Agnes Sullivan

Mary Agnes Sullivan, age 79, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 in Tuscola County. She was the youngest child born to the late Daniel and Margaret (Kilbane) Sullivan. Mary was born and raised in Michigan along with her four sisters and remained close to her sisters and family throughout her life. Mary graduated from Mercy High School in Detroit and the University of Detroit. After college, she taught in the Detroit area for a few years before relocating to southern California to be closer to some of her family members. Mary taught English for many years in California, including the Norwalk-LA Mirada Unified School District. Throughout her life, Mary greatly enjoyed reading and always had a stack of books nearby. While in southern California, she delighted in her daily twenty-five mile bike rides along the Pacific coastline. After she retired and relocated to Rochester, Michigan, Mary became an avid walker and enjoyed daily early morning walks through Stony Creek Ravine Nature Park.

Mary is survived by two older sisters, Patricia Haggerty and Rita Sullivan, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Margaret Sullivan, and her sisters Kathleen Longe and Margaret Guernsey.

A funeral mass will be celebrated for Mary at a future date. Her cremated remains will be interred with her parents at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos Hills, California.
