Mary Margaret "Peggy" Terry of Caro, age 92, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. Peggy was born on Christmas Day 1928 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Howard & Eileen (Chandler) Coleman. She spent her younger years in Detroit and Romeo before moving to Caro in her early teens. During high school, she worked after school at Kaufman's Market in Caro. When Peggy was sixteen, she was introduced to Leland Terry by mutual friends, and the couple eloped two years later on January 13, 1947 with the help of Lee's parents. Lee preceded Peggy in death on August 31, 2010 after sixty-three years of marriage. While first married, Peggy assisted Lee on the farm and began raising her family. Sometime after 1952, she went to work for the State of Michigan at the Caro Regional Center. When the kids were almost grown, Peggy obtained her associates degree in order to serve as a caseworker for the Huron County Department of Social Services, later transferring to Tuscola County in the same role. She retired in 1983 but remained active for the rest of her life, often challenging her family to try to keep up. Peggy was a natural caregiver, a skill undoubtedly learned from her helping to raise five younger siblings. She cared most about her family and would always remind them to "be safe" when they left her home. Peggy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Left to cherish her memory are four children and their spouses, Boyd & Pauline Terry of Vassar, Kathryn & Gary Holik, Cynthia & Michael Parker, Marybeth & Chuck Hover, all of Caro; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Micky Turner of Vassar; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was preceded in death by one son, David Terry; one grandson, Timothy Hover; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Mia Silvernail; five siblings, Vincent Coleman, Howard "Tommy" Coleman, James Coleman, Patricia "Patsy" Coleman, and Donald McCoy; brother- and sister-in-law, Wilton & Marion Terry; and one niece, Deanna Terry Warren.
