Mary Ann Haley Thick, 93, of Pigeon, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 with her family surrounding her with love.
Mary Ann was born August 17, 1931 in Oliver Twp to the late William and Vera (Pepper) Haley. In 1948 she graduated from Elkton High School. She married Harold Leroy Thick on July 5, 1950 at her home; he preceded her in death November 26, 2011.
Mary Ann worked at the Bell Telephone Company in Bad Axe, Scenic Convalescent Home in Pigeon, Reibling IGA in Pigeon, A & P Grocery Store, and ended her career at the Pigeon IGA. She was known for her soups and salads at the IGA deli and meat department. Her hobbies included quilting, reading, china painting, canvas painting, diamond art, and playing the hammer dulcimer with the Elizabethean Pounders.
She is survived by her children Mike (Holly) Thick of Bay Port, Carrie (Steve) Shaltonis of Bad Axe, Patricia (Brian) Krajewski of Mattawan, and Joel (Cynthia) Thick of Pigeon; sister Judy (Eugene) McIntyre of Bad Axe; sisters-in-law Mary Haley, Hope Haley and Delores Lange; grandchildren Christopher (Cortney) Thick, Eric (Brianne) Thick, Ryan Thick, Jamie (Chad) Fritz, Timothy (Rochelle) Shaltonis, Stephen Shaltonis Jr., Ethan (Samantha Leppek) Shaltonis, Sara Krajewski, Jessica (Henry) Metzger, Jennifer (Christopher) Fisher, and Katelyn (James) Amos; 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her brothers Richard and Keith Haley, grandson Bill Thick, and granddaughter-in-law Carol Shaltonis.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am Monday, February 24th at the Pigeon First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Leineke officiating. Burial will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Noon to 5:00pm Sunday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Pigeon First United Methodist Church or Pigeon Food Pantry.
