Mary Jo Ufford

Mary Jo Ufford, 73, of Caseville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.

Mary Jo was born February 3, 1940 in Grosse Pointe to the late Harold and Ermo (Weber) Sill. She graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1958. On September 12, 1959 she married Fredrick J. Ufford at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2011.

They raised their family in Detroit before moving to Caseville in 1989. She was a member of the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary, Retirement Club, St. Roch, and an officer with the Library Club.

She is survived by her children Michael (Beth) of St. Clair, Jeanne (Thomas) Healy of Chesterfield, Jill (Brian) Mielke of St. Clair Shores, Julie (David) Garstecki of Macomb, Jeri (David) Grigg of St. Clair Shores and Janet (James) Kubiak of Eastpointe; grandchildren Audrey, Shane, Paige, Allison, Carly, Alaina, and Kevin; sister Patricia (Thomas) Holmes of Port Austin and brother Allen (Donna) Sill of Casco Twp.

Funeral services will be at 10:00am Saturday at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. A luncheon will follow at the Caseville Eagles Club.

Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. She will lie in-state at church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. There will be a rosary at 7:30 Friday.
