Maude W. Heck age 83 of Pigeon died Thursday evening, October 1, at Country Gardens Assisted Living, Pigeon.
She was born November 1, 1931 in Lake Twp. at the home of her parents, the late Robert and Vivian (Bostwick) Heasty. Maude grew up in the Caseville area and was a 1949 graduate of Pigeon High School.
On September 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to Raymond Heck at the Caseville Methodist Church. They lived and raised their family on a farm south east of Pigeon raising both crops and poultry.
She was a long time member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Berne, past member of the church choir and Women’s Society. Maude enjoyed going up north to their cabin, reading and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her son-in-law, John (Jill) Bruce of Bay Port; four grandchildren, Julie (Marc) Borlaug of Flint, Jodie (Jason) Baldwin of St. Charles, Brock (Sue) Heck of Bad Axe and Jill (Larry) Weber of Beaverton; eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Mason, Hunter, Ellie, Kurtis, Hannah, Kami and Lexi; her sister, Georgina (Alvin) Kreh of Kinde; brother-in-law, Art Stahl of Caseville and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ray; three children, Jenny Bruce, Mark Heck and Eric Heck and three sisters, Patricia Fisher, Zella Weaver and Roberta Stahl.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, October 8, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Berne. Rev. James Gorsengner, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Wednesday and at the church after 10:00 AM Thursday.
Memorials may be given to MLS Scholarship Fund or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
