Maureen “Mo” Jean Frederick of Caro, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at MyMichigan Health in Saginaw with her family by her side. She was born on August 17, 1937 in Caro, the daughter of the late Armond and Wilda (Fee) Curtis. Mo grew up in Deford as the oldest of ten siblings and graduated from Cass City High School. She went on to work at General Cable in Cass City for more than forty-five years, where she held a variety of positions throughout her career before retiring from the wire testing department.
On March 3, 1956, Mo married the love of her life, A.D. Frederick, in Cass City. Together they shared more than fifty-two years of marriage, raised four children, and made many wonderful memories. In their younger years, they enjoyed bowling together on leagues, and every summer they looked forward to taking one- to two-week road trips around Michigan with no set destination, simply enjoying wherever the road took them. Sadly, A.D. passed away on April 25, 2008.
Mo was a member of TOPS and a longtime member of Mizpah Missionary Church. She crocheted many baby blankets, making sure each family member received one. An avid sports fan, Mo especially loved cheering on her children and grandchildren at their games and activities. She was an exceptional cook who never needed a recipe, everything was simply committed to memory. Her coleslaw and ground bologna were family favorites that no one could ever quite duplicate.
Known for her punctuality, Mo earned the affectionate nickname of the family's "alarm clock." More than anything, she treasured her grandchildren, family, and friends. Her unwavering faith, unconditional love, generous spirit, and the many meals she lovingly prepared will be remembered always and missed beyond measure.
Mo leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Peggy Edwards (Mike Crandall) of Unionville and Troy (Linda) Curtis; grandchildren, Melissa Davidson (Edward Palfy), Katrina (Zach) Shea, Sarah Davidson (Matt Seals), Heather (Chuck) Dahlke, Kristen Edwards (Daniel McGee), Aleasha Edwards (Chris Wahl), Amanda (Ryan) Monroe, Bethany (Austin) LaPorte, Ashley Bojaj, Mitchell Frederick, Alexandra Frederick (Nathan Fall), Scott Curtis, Brenden Curtis, Karen Graves, Dillion Curtis, and Rhonda Summerfield; great-grandchildren, Lakin (Austin) Frix, Amelia Sayers (Payton Angel), Camden Sayers, Jennifer Heckroth (Brody Wiederhold), Dakota Dahlke (Johnny Hagen), Emily McGee, Megan McGee (Remington Blonde), Daniel McGee, Rileigh Smith (Blake Gruber), Landon Smith (Elivia Leblanc), Shania Lesoski, Kristopher Edwards, Trent Edwards (Madison Coyer), Maria Reno (Axel Traster), Shawn Reno, Rosalie Monroe, Kayleigh Monroe, Kylee LaPorte, Edward LaPorte, Kael Frederick, Kassidy Frederick, Elijah Sorby, Kade Fall, Branden Bouverette, Devon O’Dell, Preston O’Dell, Skylar Meyer, Garrett Summerfield, Gordon Summerfield, Luella Summerfield, Kevin Lesoski, and Kaitlin Lesoski; great-great grandchildren, Violet Frix, Josie Hagen, Clayton Hage, and Tate Alan; sister, Marsha (Mark) Sipes; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mo was preceded in death by her children, Cindy Davidson and Michael Frederick; great-granddaughter, Ryan Kay Monroe; siblings, Armond “Spike” Curtis, Jr., Lorraine Remsing, Dale “Buck” Curtis, Diane Curtis, Dennis Curtis, Sharon “Susie” Pomeroy, Robert “Scott” Curtis, and John Paul Curtis.
