Maurice W. Bolzman

Maurice W. Bolzman, age 89, of Sebewaing, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012. He was born September 13, 1923, in Sebewaing Twp., to Herman & Ida (Haag) Bolzman, the fifth of nine children. He was baptized into Christian faith October 7, 1923 and confirmed May 21, 1937 at St. John Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh.

On August of 1943, he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army, serving 28 months during WWII, including the African-Italian Campaign, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and received two Bronze Stars.

He and Irene Leskowich were married September 26, 1947 at St. John Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh.

In 1965, Maurice became part owner and general manager of the newly-formed Thumb Web Offset Printing Company, which was later located in Caro. He retired in 1989.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on various boards. Maurice was a life member of Stamnitz-Lindeman American Legion Post #293 and Post 4115 VFW, serving as commander of both posts. He was also a member of the Sebewaing Sportsmen's Club.

Maurice is survived by his wife, Irene; daughter, Catherine (Myron) Lick; son, Ronald (Adelia) Bolzman; grandchildren, Kristin (Anderson) Bearden, Renee Lick and Andrew Lick; sister, Aldine Kopanski; brother, Kenneth (Ruth) Bolzman; sister-in-law, Annabelle Bolzman; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Alice Scherping, Edna Wing and Helen Mitchell; brothers, Howard, Vern and Floyd Bolzman.

Visitation Monday, December 10, 2012 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Sebewaing, from 2-9 pm and Tuesday, December 11th, 10 am at the church.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sebewaing, at 11 am.

Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, in Sebewaing. A military service will be conducted by the U.S. Army, VFW Post #4115 and American Legion Post #293.

Memorial donations may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church Radio Mission Fund.
