Maurice Oscar Haag, age 79, of Gagetown, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024 at McLaren Thumb Region Hospital in Bad Axe.

Maurice was born on February 26, 1945, to Oscar and Esther (Duby) Haag. He graduated from Owengage High School in 1963, where he was a star football player. After high school, he joined the United States Army. He married Nona on January 11, 1994 in Kinde. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2009. He worked many different jobs throughout his life. He was a member of the Bad Axe Historical Society, volunteer for the Octagon Barn in Gagetown and was the President of the Michigan Archeological Society, finding many rare and unusual prehistoric artifacts. He also enjoyed fishing and driving his moped around the "Thumb".

Maurice is survived by his daughter, Andrea (John) Reed of Sebewaing; step children: Charles Adams, Clyde Adams, Steven Adams, George Kinde, Morley Kinde and Geoffrey Kinde; brothers: Jim (Linnea) Haag, Danny (Shirley) Haag, Kenneth (Deborah) Haag and Alan (Carmen) Haag; grandchildren: Kimberly Sharpsteen, Jacob Sharpsteen, Michael Sharpsteen and Mandy McBrayer; and many step grandchildren.

Maurice is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nona.

Per Maurice's wishes, cremation has taken place.
