Maxine Mowry of Fairgrove, age 91, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at New Hope Bay in Bay City, following a period of declining health. Maxine was born May 3, 1929 at home, the daughter of the late George & Edwina (Hillis) McLaren. She was united in marriage with Jay Mowry whom she worked beside as an invaluable part of the family farm until his death in 1984. Maxine was a lifelong and active member of the Wisner United Methodist Church where she served as its historian. She loved to cook and will be remembered fondly for her homemade noodles, doughnuts, potato salad, cream pies, and cinnamon rolls. She also enjoyed tending to her flower garden and sharing bouquets with friends and family. Maxine is survived by five children and their spouses, Cheryl & Pete McCreedy of Lapeer, Susan & Bob Prime of Fairgrove, Renee & Lee Heinlein of Reese, Jayne & Gary McFarland of Pinconning, Tim & Laura Mowry of Akron; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Bernice and Sally Mowry. In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Don and Larry Mowry; and one great-grandson, Reid Crosby. Private family services will be held at the Wisner United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Wisner Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Wisner United Methodist Church.
