Maxine E. Peters, age 87, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2009 at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw, following a brief illness. Maxine was born March 2, 1922 in Watrousville, the daughter of the late Roy & Clara McLaughlin and was a lifelong area resident. She was united in marriage with Frank I. Peters on July 10, 1938 in Caro. Maxine was employed at the Caro Regional Center for ten years as a telephone operator and later with the Vesely Apache Trailer Company in Lapeer as a secretary for twenty-five years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved to care for and cook for her family, a talent that led her to write many recipes for area cook books. She also enjoyed fishing, watching birds, playing cards, crossword puzzles, and tending to her flower garden. Maxine took pleasure in vacationing with her husband in Michigan, Canada and going to Florida in the winter. She was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church, a former Worthy Matron of the Kedron Chapter #33, O.E.S. and former President of its Thumb Association. Maxine is survived by her loving husband of nearly seventy years, Frank I. Peters of Caro; four sons and their spouses, Gary & Bonnie Peters of Steinhatchee, Florida, Roger & Donna Peters of North Branch, Victor & Michele Peters of Flint, Jeffrey Peters of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by four sisters.
