Maxine Putnam of Mayville, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at McLaren - Bay Region in Bay City, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born September 11, 1923 in Columbia Township, the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Mary (Greenwood) Greenfield. Maxine was united in marriage with Lloyd Hugh Putnam on February 16, 1946 in Flint. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1984. She was employed at the Lapeer County State Home where she worked in the Accounting Department, retiring after thirty years of service. She was a member of T.O.P.S. and the Caro Church of the Nazarene, where she was in charge of the food pantry. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking, and especially serving others. Maxine is survived by three children, Dawn & Thomas Stein of Fairgrove, Dallas Hugh & Nancy Putnam of Gowen, Darlene Putnam of Toledo, Ohio; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one foster daughter, Nancy Racknor of Lapeer, and her six children. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland and Donald Greenfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Caro Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Paul McNett officiating. Burial will follow in Almer Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Putnam Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Dallas Putnam, 205 West Sherman St., Caro, Michigan 48723.
