Maxine E. TerBush of Caro, age 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. Maxine was born March 28, 1925 in Caro, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Elizabeth (Hergenreder) Kroll. After graduating from Caro High School with the class of 1943, she joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp. She began her training at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw and received her R.N. in October of 1946. During her career, Maxine worked in the office of Doctors Nigg and Miles, the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, and in 1985, retired from the Caro Regional Center. She was united in marriage with Ted TerBush on June 18, 1949 in Caro, and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2008. Maxine was a lifelong and oldest surviving member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. She was also a member of the Retired Nurse's Association of St. Mary's and the State Employee Retirement Association. Maxine loved spending time with family and friends, especially at their cottage in Caseville. She also enjoyed being outdoors and working in her flower gardens, knitting, and baking her delicious cookies. Left to cherish Maxine's memory are two children, Pattie Ann Gaudett and her husband, Don, of Vassar, and Robert Lee TerBush of Caro; four grandchildren and their spouses, Shawn and Kyle Jones of Waterford, Christopher & Ashley Gaudett of Caro, Megan TerBush of St. Petersburg, Florida, Paige & Chad Prater of Linden; five great-grandchildren, Morgan and Sydney Jones, Lucas and Parker Gaudett, and Maya Prater; one sister-in-law, Sally TerBush; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Tweedie and her husband, John; and daughter-in-law, Mary TerBush. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro or Compassus Hospice.
