Maxine L. Church-Thompson, 93, of Davison, formerly of Caseville, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Medilodge of Frankenmuth.

Maxine was born November 6, 1929 in Caseville to the late Anthony and Anna (Liska) Valkoun. She graduated from Pigeon High School. After raising her children Maxine saw a need for women’s clothing stores specializing in plus sizes and in 1977 she opened Maxine’s with three locations in Flint. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, theater, and mahjong.

Maxine is survived by her children Randy (Cheri) Church of Fenton, Terry (Ken) Such of Howell, Don (Sandi) Church of Highland and Paul Church of Bay Port; grandchildren Brian, Heather, Ashley, Colin, Eliott, Adria, James, Jared, Crystal and Daniel; great-grandchildren Jackson, Landon, Cameron, Kenzie, Adalynn, and Gibson; and a sister Diane (John) Kohr. She was preceded in death by her husbands James Church and L.D. Thompson and sisters Bertha McAuley, Helen Huber, Eileen Rutter, and Leida Addy; and brother James Valkoun.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Friday, February 10th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Burial will be Caseville Twp Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00am Friday and continue until time of the service.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
