Melvin W. Spencer

Melvin W. Spencer, a lifelong resident of Caro, passed away at his home on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the age of 73. Melvin was born July 22, 1946 in Caro, the son of the late Glen & Elvina (Stuart) Spencer. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He could also often be found tinkering on cars in his spare time. Melvin was a loving grandfather that enjoyed time spent with family, and he never had a bad word to say about anyone. Left to cherish his memory are his three children and their spouses, Dena Criner and her fianc, Arthur Hammond, of Cass City, Vincent & Lillie Parrish of Vassar, Robert & Stormy Spencer of Vassar; ten grandchildren, Charlotte Wilkinson, Rocky and Kirky Parrish, William Summerfiled, Savannah, Hunter, and Elijah Krakker, Jennamay Summerfield, Mason Parrish, Robert Spencer, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Tristin, Elijah, Alexis, Livia; his loving companion, Marilyn Sylvester of Caro; Marilyn's daughter and her husband, Marlene & Steve Forbes of Caro; six siblings, Junior, George, Katie, Debra, Beverly, Dellann; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by one brother, Jack; and infant granddaughter, Selena Parrish. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. A private burial will occur at the Ellington Township Cemetery in Caro.
