Merlin T. Farver age 76 of Colfax Twp. died Friday evening, March 27, at Huron Medical Center following a probable heart attack.
He was born December 13, 1938, in Chandler Twp. at the home of his parents Floyd Farver and the late Dorothy (Furness) Farver.
On June 19, 1960, he was united in marriage to RoseMary Blakeslee at the Michigan State University Chapel, East Lansing.
Merlin grew up in the Elkton area and was a 1958 graduate of Elkton High School. He attended Central Michigan for one year and graduated from trade school as a Tool and Die maker. In 1958, he began his career at Active Industries, Elkton working his way up to a Chief Engineer. He retired in 2002 from the now, Tower Automotive, with 44 years of service.
He was a lifelong member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, a strong supporter of the NRA and 30 year member of the Elkton Lions Club. Merlin enjoyed being outdoors working with wood and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife of almost 55 years, Rose; his children, Brett (Suzanna) Farver of Columbus, Tracy (Rob) Herzog of Pembroke Pines, FL, Brad (Julie) Farver of Decatur and Tina Farver of Monroe, CT; six grandchildren, Heather, Alex, Ashley Trent, Madeline and Brody; a great granddaughter, Payten; his father, Floyd Farver of Elkton; siblings, Bruce (Betsy) Farver of Elkton, Ron (Marge) Farver of Elkton, Sandy (Art) Farver of Hudson, FL and Marge (John) Kanaski of Elkton and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 31, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. Craig Pillow, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Monday and at the church after 10:00 AM Tuesday.
