Michael Amend

Michael Amend, age 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Covenant-Cooper in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. Mike was born November 13, 1915 in Vassar, the son of the late Michael & Catherine Amend and was a lifelong area resident. For most of Mikes working life, he was employed as a Pipe Fitter, working out of Union Hall #85 in Saginaw. He joined the Steam Fitters and Plumbers Union #85 in 1951. Mike enjoyed playing cards, gardening and square dancing. He was united in marriage to the former Pauline Miller on May 10, 1941 in Reese. In addition to his wife of over 66 years, Mike is survived by three sons and their wives, Gerald & Jan Amend, Michael & JoAnn Amend, John & Cindy Fox-Amend, all of Caro; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Katherine Jansen of Richville and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
