Michael Wilson Bearden

Michael Wilson Bearden of Caro, age 83, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born March 12, 1942 in Muskegon, the son of the late Ralph and Virginia Bearden. Michael graduated from Birmingham High School and went on to earn his associate degree from Alma College. On August 3, 1974, he married the love of his life, Robin, and together they built a life full of wonderful memories over their fifty years together.

Michael dedicated over thirty years of his life to Teen Ranch in Marlette, a nonprofit organization that provided a safe and supporting environment for young boys. As a passionate director of development, he worked tirelessly to ensure the boys at Teen Ranch had the resources and support they needed. His connection to the teen home ran deeper than duty; it was something he truly believed in and lived out daily. After his time at Teen Ranch, Michael launched Freedom Financial in Caro, a loan company he ran side-by-side with his daughter until his retirement in 2012.

Michael was a longtime member of Living Waters Chapel and served as a song leader for more than thirty years. He loved to sing—at church, in the community, and anywhere he could share his voice. He was also a passionate preacher and a natural people person who could strike up a conversation with anyone. Michael’s service extended beyond his church and work. He served on several community boards, including the Tuscola County Medical Care Community, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Tuscola Area Airport board. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, singing, and being surrounded by people. His presence lit up a room, and his enthusiasm for life was contagious.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Robin Bearden; children, Jeffrey (Kris) Bearden, Dennis (Tammy) Tank, Robert (Beth) Bearden, Heidi Bearden (Andrew Stump), and Thomas Bearden; grandchildren, Jacob Tank, Danielle (JR) Dawley, Cheyanne (Aidan) Grose, Alex Tank, Zachary Bearden, Taylor Bearden, and Sydney Bearden; brothers, David Bearden and Steven (Jay) Bearden; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul Bearden and Mary Bearden.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Living Waters Chapel in Caro with Pastor James Brandt officiating. A luncheon at the church will follow the service.
