Michael George Carl

Michael George Carl of Caro, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home. Mike was born October 5, 1949 in Saginaw, and was a 1967 graduate of St. Charles High School. Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1969 and went on to proudly serve his country for eighteen years during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was honorably discharged in 1986. He was united in marriage with the former Cindy Lou Hare on October 11, 1969, and she survives him. Mike enjoyed fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and spending time with his family. Mike is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Cindy Lou Carl; two daughters and their spouses, Dianna Carl & Keith Hodge of Toledo, Ohio, Kristen & Brian Novotny of Cadillac; mother, Geraldine Carl-Rowley of Munising; sisters, Sue Nettleton, Jane Steinhoff, Beth Carl, all of Munising, Mary Carl of Florida; brothers, Wayne Carl of Columbus, Ohio and Roy Carl of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Carl; and one sister, Nan Peterson. In keeping with Mike's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
