Michael H. King, 77, of Port Austin, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025 at his home.
Mike was born July 18, 1947 in Windsor, Ontario to the late Hartley and Helen (Derrick) King. In 1965 he graduated from St. Francis High School in Ecorse, Michigan and later received an Associates Degree in Communications. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married Patricia Laske on May 10, 1974 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights.
Mike retired in 2000 from Michigan Bell after a 32 year career. He was a member of the Port Austin American Legion, Caseville Eagles and St. Hubert Parish. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Bad Axe and St. Edward Catholic Church-Kinde. He enjoyed bowling and college football, especially rooting for his favorite team, Notre Dame.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Pat; sister Suzanne Suchy; brother-in-law Mark (Stacee) Laske; sister-in-law Kathleen Laske; niece and nephews Helen (Joel), Hartley, Michael, Nicholas (Jess) and Michael (Jax); great-nieces and nephews Madison, Damien, Hunter, Olivia, Gabriella, Abigail, Eddie, Ella, Louis, and Luke; and loyal pet Scotties Smuggler, MacIntosh, Duncan, Rainy Day, Smuggs, Ruggs, Dayler, Maxwell and Brodie. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Richard Suchy.
A memorial service will be 1:00pm Thursday, February 27th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon. Friends and family can begin visiting at Noon.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Salvation Army.
