Michael (Mike) Ralph Dixon of Sand Point, age 78, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at U of M Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Michael was born on September 22, 1947, to Dr. Ralph C. and Betty B. Dixon in Scheurer Hospital, Pigeon, Michigan.
Mike was a 1965 graduate of Laker High School, where he was active in sports and sang with a quartet of other Laker High School musicians. He subsequently attended Michigan State University (MSU) where he sang with the Michigan State Singers and graduated with an accounting degree from the MSU Eli Broad College of Business, where his daughter is currently a faculty member. On August 18, 1967, he married Judith Lee Bach. They grew up spending their summers on Sand Point in Caseville, Michigan. After MSU, both Mike and Judy graduated in 1972 from the Detroit College of Law, now the MSU College of Law. They both practiced law in Alpena, Michigan, where they bought their first house on Grand Lake to start a family. Mike was well regarded in the community through active membership in the Optimists Club, the Lions Club and the church choir. During his time practicing law, he once ran for county prosecutor under the slogan “I Like Mike”. They later accepted positions with the State of Michigan where they worked until retirement.
Having loved the summers on Sand Point, both Mike and Judy made it their permanent home after retirement, enjoying lake life in their final years. People who knew Mike described him as a devoted father, proud MSU Spartan, intelligent, funny, kindhearted, motivated and driven to succeed.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Teagan Judith Dixon; his sisters, Louise A. Dixon and Barbara B. Dixon; brother-in-law, Timothy Caldwell; sister-in-law, Jo Ann (George) Walters; and his cat, Ozzy. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, Betty and Ralph Dixon; brother, Peter; sister-in-law, Marjorie Dixon; and his dog, Gabby.
