Michael Dean Partlo

Always one for abrupt goodbyes, Michael Dean Partlo left us unexpectedly on June 30, 2022. Growing up as the eldest son of Rick and Charlene Partlo, Mike was raised to follow the Golden Rule which became a guiding principle for him his entire life. Early on he developed a love for the outdoors and sports which continued throughout his life. His mother gave him the choice of daily dishes or daily piano practice which led to him playing the piano/organ every Sunday at Akron Methodist Church. In high school he was teased for winning the Betty Crocker Award although he didn't pick up cooking until middle age. His unsolicited breakfast sandwiches will be sorely missed. At the age of 10, Mike began working full-time during the summers alongside his father and uncle, Vic Sonquist, continuing that work ethic until he retired in 2011 as the Housing Director of Lapeer County. He was a man with clear priorities. His first priority was always to take care of himself and his family. His second priority was to spend as much time doing things he loved which included upland bird hunting, fly fishing, and admiring his backyard after a fresh mow. He leaves behind Marcia, his best friend and wife of 44 years; with their daughter, Hanna; "son-in-law," Chris Cullen; brother, Mark (Cindy) Partlo; aunt, Karen Sonquist; uncle, Keith Partlo; and an unfinished pursuit of a bonefish, tarpon, and permit Grand Slam. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of donations, the family asks that you invest in making a lasting memory with loved ones.
