Michael Pochinco

Michael Mitchell Pochinco, age 53, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, June 18, 2010. Mike was born July 1, 1956 in Detroit, the son of the late Michael & Helen (Paun) Pochinco and attended Centerline High School. Mike found the love of his life, Charyl Brown, in 1974, and the couple was united in marriage on August 20, 1977 in East Detroit. He was employed by Monarch Steel in Detroit as a supervisor for twenty-five years, retiring due to disability in 1999. Mike enjoyed drag racing as a teen and young adult. As a father and husband, he enjoyed making home improvements, camping, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. When Mike and his family lived in Clinton Township, most of their weekends were spent up at the camper at Sutters Campground in North Branch and later at Ber-Wa-Ga-Na Campground in Vassar. Mike enjoyed the woods and wilderness so much that he and Charyl decided to buy property and move to Caro in 2002. Two years ago, Mike and his family were dealt a heartbreaking cancer diagnosis. It was then that he showed what a determined and fierce fighter he could be. Mike was not willing to concede a single day without a battle to retain his life and the relationships that he held so dear. On June 18, Mike left the battle to be with the Lord. Left to carry on his memory are his loving wife of more than thirty-two years, Charyl Pochinco of Caro; three sons, “Little” Michael Pochinco and his fiance, Jennifer, of Williamston, South Carolina, Rich Pochinco of Caro, Tim Pochinco and his significant other, Bobbi, of Caro; three grandchildren, Mikie, Abigail and Noah Pochinco; two brothers, one sister and their spouses, Ronnie & Nancy Pochinco of Sterling Heights, Maryann & Steve Olter of Clinton Township, Billy & Cindy Pochinco of Romeo; and many special extended family members that included brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
