Mildred S. Dietzel, age 89, of Pigeon died Wednesday afternoon, May 25, at Huron Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born April 2, 1922, in Oliver Twp. at the home of her parents, the late Henry and Viola (Rothfuss) Diebel.
Mildred grew up in the Elkton area and lived in the Elkton-Pigeon area all her life.
On June 30, 1962, she was united in marriage to L. Daniel Dietzel at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Elkton. They lived and farmed on a farm in the Pigeon area until Dan passed away in 1989. Mildred then moved in to Pigeon as one of the first residents of Country Bay.
She was a lifelong member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Surviving is a stepson, Earl (Eleanor) Dietzel of Caro; four grandchildren, Rev. David (Julie) Dietzel of Caro, Timothy Dietzel of Marlette, Rev. Paul (Jessica) Dietzel of Corunna and Mary Campbell of Caro; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris (Bill) Webb of Midland and Anabelle Ort of Brighton; a brother, Gerald (Sharon) Diebel of Elkton and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Clayton, Bud, Willie and Leland Diebel and four sisters, Ruth Heckroth, Arlene Carroll, Mary Hale and Jean Kieser.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, May 28, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. Craig Pillow pastor, will officiate with burial in Caseville Twp. Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Friday and at the church after 10 AM Saturday.
