Mildred Keilitz

Mildred Ethel Keilitz, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Heritage of Lake Forest, Sanford, Florida. Mildred was born March 16, 1915 to John D. and Zella (Fuester) Horst in Akron, Michigan. She resided in Caro and St. Helen, Las Vegas, Nevada and Central Florida. Mildred was a June 1932 graduate of Akron High School. On October 8, 1932, she married Otto E. Keilitz. Mildred was a long-time State of Michigan employee, having worked at the Caro Regional Center as Kitchen Manager. She enjoyed crocheting lovely Afghans and baby layettes, baking pies with Northern Spy Apples, playing euchre with friends and family, her Red Hat Ladies, watercolor painting and games of UNO with Margaret and Elaine. Mildred is survived by her children, Gene (Marlene) Keilitz of Traverse City, Onalee Hopper of Deford, and Margaret Keilitz and Elaine Thompson of Mt. Dora, Florida. Mildred is also survived by seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Also left to remember Mildred are her sisters, Donna Llewellyn, Joan (Dean) Kritzman, Norine (Jerry) Kruchkow, Maxine Fox, Ethel (Jim) Albertson; brother-in-law, Edwin Rayl; and brother, Walter (Norene) Horst. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Otto on September 3, 1982; sisters, Ruby, Gwendolyn, and Marion; brothers-in-law, Russell Peck, Art and Tim Llewellyn, and Charley Fox; sons-in-law, Theron “Whitey” Hopper and John Thompson; grandsons, Kim and Kyle Hopper; and parents, John and Zella. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, Michigan, with Rev. Judy Esckilsen officiating. Visitation will occur immediately preceding the service starting at 12:00 noon. Private burial will follow at Novesta Cemetery.
