Mildred Sewell

Mildred E. Sewell, age 86, of Bradenton, Florida and Lewiston, Michigan, died on Friday, May 20, 2011 at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw. She was born in rural Caro to the late Frank and Mary (Potrzuski) Besky. Mildred was a Caro High School graduate, and went to work at the Caro Regional Center where she worked as a cooking supervisor until her retirement. She married Clarence Wright in 1946, and he preceded her in death. She then married Mark Knowland in 1953, and he also preceded her in death. On February 14, 1992 she was united in marriage to Herbert (Jim) Sewell. Together they enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, family, friends, and their special time watching the Detroit Tigers. As much as she enjoyed wintering in Florida, she looked forward to returning to her home, the cottage on Snyder Lake in Lewiston. She was a member of the Catholic faith, attending in both Bradenton and Lewiston. She is survived by her husband, Jim; one son James (Jill) Wright of Kingston; two grandchildren, Deadra “DeeDee” Wright of Emmett and Robert Wright of Vassar; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; her step-children, Carol (John) Harding of Oakland Township, Jim (Jill) Sewell of Coldstream, Illinois, Mary (Bob) Farrell of Elk Rapids, Patricia Sewell of Madison, Wisconsin, Connie Anderson of Washington, Michigan, Janet Crawford of Madison, Wisconsin; several step-grandchilden and step-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Ruth Steven of Caro and Janet (Jimmy) Senclair of Harrison Township; her brother, Fred (Alberta) Hess of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Wright; one grandson, James Hugh Wright; and her remaining siblings. A prayer service will be held at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Lewiston at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas TX 75265-0309.
