Minnie L. Brakenberry, age 89, of Elkton died Wednesday evening, June 15, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.
She was born February 10, 1922 in Oliver Twp. at the home of her parents, the late Elroy and Frankie (Hutchinson) Motz and lived in the Elkton area all her life.
Minnie worked and helped on the family farm. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and flower gardening, and was a lifelong member of the Evangel Life Assembly of God Church.
On March 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Douglas E. Brakenberry at the Assembly of God Church in Bad Axe. He preceded her in death March 21, 2002.
Surviving are four children, Marilyn Smithers of Elkton, Marie (Duane) Schember and Ralph (Linda) Brakenberry both of Pigeon and Ron (Brenda) Brakenberry of Bad Axe; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a granddaughter, Melody Harmon, two infant grandchildren, Dawn Schember and Nathan Brakenberry; two sons-n-law, Dale Schember and John Smithers and her sister, Verla Mosey.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, June 18, at the Evangel Life Assembly of God Church, Bad Axe. Rev. Glenn Smith, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
