Mitchell Leroy Smith

Mitchell L. Smith "Mitch", age 55, of Pigeon, formerly of Elkton and Bad Axe, passed away Thursday night, July 16, 2015, at his home with his family by his side.

Mitch was born June 22, 1960, in Saginaw, to Mial L. Smith and Maxine (Williams) Smith. He married Patricia (Gilbert) Maxwell on June 27, 1997 in Bad Axe. He was a former employee of Huron Castings. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, working jigsaw puzzles, playing euchre and spending time with family and friends.

Mitch is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith; mother, Maxine Fischer; children: Dennis (fiancé Rachel Krulicki) Smith and Michael Smith; step children: Cory (Bonnie) Maxwell and Heather (Eric) Smith; siblings: Sondra (James) Fabear, Rod (friend Peggy) Smith, Carol Lovaas, Connie Muma, Karen (Rick) Warchuck and Bonnie Lewis; grandchildren: Brittany, Abbey, Claire and Ava; and many nieces and nephews.

Mitch is preceded in death by his father, Mial Smith; son, Bryan Smith; and brother, Roger Smith.

Visitation will be Monday, July 20, 2015, at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon from 2-9pm.

The funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home at 11am.

Burial will take place at Colfax Township Cemetery in Bad Axe.

Memorial donations may be given to the family (c/o Patricia Smith).
