"Moose" Carl Montague of Caro, age 63, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 14, 2018. Moose was born December 27, 1954 in Sault Ste. Marie, the son of the late Theron and Thelma Rosalie (Thompson) Montague. He was united in marriage with the former Nancy Czapla on August 17, 1975 in Anchorage, Alaska. The couple continued to live there for five years prior to moving to Oklahoma, Arizona, Vermont and eventually returning to Michigan. Moose was a very talented knife maker who owned and operated Moose-Jaw Knifeworks for over thirty years. Moose was an accomplished musician, and enjoyed camping, especially playing music and drinking beer around the campfire, traveling, and attending concerts. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 F&AM and Caro Chapter #96 Royal Arch Masons of Michigan. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Nancy Jo Montague of Caro; one sister, Charlene Blankenship of Wasilla, Alaska; three nieces, Sheila (Kevin) Nicholas, Erica (Jerry) Dibble, Sabrina Pickering; and numerous friends who had become family through the years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Nellie Montague; and one brother, Eric "Rick" Montague. In keeping with Moose's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are being planned at this time.
