Morris Scott

Morris Scott, age 86, of Fairgrove, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 following a lingering illness. He was born on March 10, 1922 in rural Fairgrove where he has lived all of his life. Morris was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Morris Scott married the former Anne Cook on August 30, 1947 in Iron Mountain. He was a lifelong farmer and employed at Eaton Foundry in Vassar. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Fairgrove V.F.W. and the Caro Knights of Columbus. Morris enjoyed hunting, bowling and golf, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He is survived by his wife, Anne; three daughters and one son, Diane Scott of Caro, Linda (E. North) Coleman of Ortonville, Peggy ( Tim) Kurzyniec of Attica and Paul (Janelle) Scott of Dundee; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Jean Bohnhoff of Saginaw and Emma Lou of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Leona Horne, Victor Scott, Marie Sheldon and Elmo Scott. A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. John Ladd officiating. Following cremation, burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgove. Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morris Scott family discretionary fund, c/o Anne Scott.
