Myrtle V. Finkbeiner

Myrtle Virginia Finkbeiner, 93, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, formerly of Pigeon passed away in the midst of family May 24, 2018 in Pittsburg.

Myrtle was born March 10, 1925 in Wyandotte to the late William and Ruth (Selz) Shiflett.  She married Walter Finkbeiner November 22, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville; he preceded her in death May 11, 1980.

Myrtle grew up in Wyandotte and moved to Linkville where she and her husband were farmers.  After her husband’s death she was a nurse at the local hospital.  She was an avid Lutheran and a child of God. Throughout Myrtle’s life she was a loving caregiver, beloved friend and had a sass about her that made you love and cherish her even more.  She touched many lives, ensuring she became pen pals with new friends she met.  She had a heart of gold and loved to embroider, read, write letters, make crafts, play cards and we can’t forget her daily soaps.  She loved unconditionally and will be forever missed.

She is survived by her son William of Traverse City; eight grandchildren:  Sheryl, Jacqui, Ryan, Luke, Kalena, William, Krystal and Drew; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters Jean Conger and Dorothy (Floyd) Hatch; brother Lewis (Tona) Shiflett; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sons Walter Lee and Douglas Curt, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, May 30 ^th at Champagne Funeral Chapel with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating.  Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00am Wednesday until the time of the service.
