Myrtle Kuranty

Beloved mother, Myrtle Kuranty, age 92, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 at her daughters home in Caro. She was born on November 26, 1919 in Sharples, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Miles Banda and Veronica Zakzrewska. Myrtle married Joseph Kuranty on October 1, 1938 in Hamtramck, and together they had three daughters. Following Joes death in 1971, she began volunteering for the Meals on Wheels program, which she faithfully served for more than thirty-five years. In addition, she welcomed unwed mothers into her home and transported newborns as well as women and children in domestic abuse situations. She volunteered for VISTE, delivering commodities monthly for many years. Myrtle lived her faith, giving of herself to others daily, wanting nothing in return, and desiring no recognition. Myrtle is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Helen Tony Jablonowski of Warren, June Laurence Atkerson of Caro, and Renee Don Atkerson of Caro; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her special friend, Joe Caron; and two sisters, Irene Kolesky and Helen Newmyer. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Ron Wigand officiating. In keeping with Mrs. Kurantys wishes, cremation will follow the service with interment at a later date in Lakeland, Florida. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00.
