Myrtle McDurmon Martin, age 94 years, a former thirty year resident of the Senior Commons in Caro, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born on July 12, 1912 in Almer Township of Tuscola County and was a lifelong resident. She graduated country school in Juniata Township. In early years, she worked for a number of farm families in the kitchen and then at the Hotel Montague, also in the kitchen. She then went to work as a silk finisher and presser at the Thumb Laundry and then, until her retirement, at Easthams Cleaners. Myrtle was a lifelong member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son and daughter, Bernard (Joanne) McDurmon of Caro and Georgia Weston of Cocoa, Florida; five grandchildren, Terry (Ann) McDurmon of Bay City, Shelly (Alan) Luther of Caro, Shirley (Don) Hodgkinson of Caro, Tim (Shannon) Weston of Austin, Texas, Marcy Weston of Orlando, Florida; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Kenneth McDurmon; and all of her siblings. A memorial service will be held at the Bethel United Methodist Church on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Pat Robbins, B.A.S.S. Charge, officiating. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church.
