Nadene E. Barbret, 89, of Caseville died Monday, November 16, 2015 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe.
Nadene was born June 11, 1926 in Detroit to the late Sumner and Caroline (Miranda) Chapman. She graduated from Detroit Denby High School in 1944. On October 19, 1946 she married Donald R. Barbret in Detroit. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2011.
She raised her family in Detroit and then in 1970 the family moved to Caseville. She was an active member of the community, involved with the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary, Caseville Retirees, Library Club and Cross Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and euchre, and with her husband she was an accomplished ballroom dancer.
She is survived by her sons Rev. Thomas (Marlene) of Oscoda, Robert (Sherrie) of Pinckney and James (Joan) of Saline; grandchildren Jennifer (Mounim) Sais, Sarah (Yassine) Johri, Marcus and Kelly Barbret; great-grandchildren Sabreen, Jonah, Jamila and Yasmina; and sister Ethel Mueller of Sterling Heights. She was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy, Evelyn, and Beatrice, and brothers Windsor and Merrit.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am Friday, November 20th at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon, with Rev. Timothy Loehrke officiating. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Visitation will be 2-6pm Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. She will lie in-state one hour prior to the service on Friday in church. Memorials may be made to Cross Lutheran Church or School.
