Nancy Smith

Nancy Jean Smith, age 63, of Lapeer, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Lapeer Regional Hospital. She was born on February 11, 1946 in Caro to the late Martin and Freida (Scharich) Kelly. Nancy lived in Tuscola County for much of her young life, graduating Salutatorian from Gagetown High School. On October 26, 1968 Nancy was united in marriage to Frederick Smith in Linkville. She was a mother, wife and homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lapeer. Nancy enjoyed politics, bird watching, and gardening. She is survived her husband, Frederick; two children, David Smith of Keego Harbor and Kelly Smith of Lapeer; her siblings, Peggy Kelly of Cass City, Barbara (John) Koepf of Deford, Elaine (Rich) Renn of Elkton, Patricia Baker of Essexville and Jim (Trisha) Kelly of Cass City; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Cameron Steele officiating. Burial will be at Almer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
