Nancy R. Thane

Nancy R. (Duncan) Thane of Cass City, age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Medilodge of Frankenmuth. Nancy was born March 2, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clifford A. & Verna R. (Feltus) Duncan. She moved with her family to Caro as a youngster and attended Caro High School. Nancy was united in marriage with Douglas G. Thane on January 20, 1960, and the couple cherished forty-two years together before his death in 2002. She worked for many years as a nurses aide for Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City and later managed mobile home parks across the country with her husband. Nancy's final position was with Northwood Meadows in Cass City as a receptionist. She was a member of the Cass City Missionary Church and the Caro Moose Lodge. Nancy will be remembered for her strong will and deep devotion to family. She enjoyed camping with her children, driving her convertible, playing cards, especially Euchre, quilting, bowling, and was always available for an evening motorcycle ride. Nancy leaves a legacy of love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that will be deeply missed for generations. Left to cherish her memory are four children and their spouses, Ann & Joe Vatter of Ubly, Darryl Thane of Chesterfield, Gregory & Angela Thane of Cass City, Vicki & Roger McKee of Cass City; five grandchildren and their spouses, Rhea & Mike Merriman of Snover, Andrea Thane of Cass City, Brandi & Jesse Walitalo of Cass City, Nicole Thane of Midland, RJ McKee of Deford; great-grandchildren, Grace, Olivia, Mila, Skylar, Sydney, and an additional great-grandchild expected shortly; sister, Deb; brother, Clifford; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her mother- and father-in-law, E. Carl & Hazel (Bullock) Thane. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Phil Burkett of the Cass City Missionary Church officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the Elkland Township Cemetery in Cass City. The family will be present to receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
