Neil Russell Rohner, 91, of Caseville, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Neil was born January 21, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Herbert and Mary (Cochran) Rohner. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1944 and later from GMI. He served in the US Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific theater. He married Alma Hayes June 13, 1946 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Flint; she preceded him in death November 14, 2014.
Neil retired from GM-Buick Division as a plant superintendent in Flint. He moved to Caseville in 1986, having had a cottage on Lake Huron since 1964. He was a life-long devoted Catholic, and a member of St. Roch Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Flint. He was a role model of a what it means to be a Christian father and grandfather to his family.
He is survived by his children Theresa (Guy) Watson of Florida, George (Doris) of Florida, Victor (Tiffany) of Caseville and Bethany (Mark) Heinzelman of Virginia; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and brother David (Randi) of Durand. He was preceded in death by his son Gregory, great-grandson Antonio, brother John and sisters Patricia and Joan.
A funeral mass will be 10:00am Saturday, January 20 th at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville, with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Flint. He will lie in-state one hour prior to mass. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.St. Roch Catholic Church
