Nellie Hazel Montague, age 105 years, of Lincoln Street Caro, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2005, at her home. The former Nellie Hazel Beardsley was born June 15, 1900, to the late Edgar and Lucina Beardsley, in a lumber camp in Fremont Township. Nellie began working as a telephone operator at the age of 18. She married Carl William Montague on June 15, 1922, in Caro. He preceded her in death in 1989. After her marriage to Carl, Nellie worked for a short while as seamstress before becoming a homemaker. This is when she became a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She had something to teach to everyone; she enjoyed caring for others especially those within her family. Nellie enjoyed writing poems and reading her Bible. She was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church and its Faith Circle. She is survived by two children and one spouse, Theron (Marina) Montague of Copper Center, Alaska, and Phyllis Brinkman of Caro; seven grandchildren, Rick Montague of Caro, Charlene (Bucky) Montague-Blankenship of Alaska, Carl “Moose” (Nancy) Montague of Caro, Terri Montague of Alaska, Michael (Cynthia) Brinkman of Caro, Stephen Brinkman of Caro and Sherry (Michael) Henry of Caro; eight great-grandchildren, Tara, Breana, Andrea and Austin Henry, Michele (Randy) Tolfree, Erica (Jerry) Dibble, Sheila (Kevin) Nicholas and Sabrina Montague; six great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister; and a very special great-grandson, Christopher Brinkman. The funeral service will be held: AT: Collon Funeral Home in Caro ON: Thursday, November 3, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. WITH: Rev. Duane E. Miller, Caro United Methodist Church, Officiating Burial will be: AT: Indianfields Township Cemetery Visitation will be: AT: Collon Funeral Home in Caro ON: Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. AND: Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Caro United Methodist Church or Lutheran Home Care Hospice of Hope.
