Neva Pequet

Neva went home to see Jesus on February 23, 2009 at the age of 96 years. She was born on August 10, 1912 in Flint, weighing 1.5 pounds. Because she was so small, Neva was an only child and was carried around on a pillow by her parents Charles and Ivena Heipel. Prior to living in Caro, Neva attended the Episcopal Church and later attended the Baptist Church. She greatly enjoyed reading her Bible, the Upper Room, Daily Bread, and other devotions. Neva was very creative and enjoyed doing crafts. She beautifully crocheted afghans, baby clothes, doilies, and much more. Neva also enjoyed working with plastic canvas. She helped many residents of the Caro Senior Commons, where she was a charter resident, with craft projects, crocheting and reading patterns. She is survived by one son and one daughter, Patrick Pequet of Flushing and Marlene (Jeff) Evanloff of Warren; five grandchildren, Jodi, Patrick Pequet, Leighton Pequet, Paul and Mark Piacyz; and her special friends, Karen and Vic Sonquist of Caro. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian, and granddaughter, Samantha Leahey. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Joe Atchinson of Heartland Hospice officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility or Heartland Hospice.
