Noreen B. (Klonowski) Kavalar, "92 years young and still a firecracker", of Ubly formerly of Caseville passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015, surrounded by family.
She was born on January 7, 1923, in Detroit, daughter of the late Albert Edwin and Noreen (Harrigan) Dwyer. On May 19, 1945, she was united in marriage to Michael John Klonowski in Gross Pointe, he preceded her in death October 6, 1983. Many years later she met and married John Kavalar, on December 21, 1999 who also preceded her in death.
Noreen was a former member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon and after moving to Ubly became a member of St John’s Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly. She loved going to the Huron County Senior Center in Bad Axe, where she enjoyed warm friendships. Noreen was an avid game player - always ready for a rousing game of Scrabble, cards, bingo.
Surviving are her children, Michele Maitland of Irmo, SC, Mary Beth (Al) Swiderski of Lake Leelanau, Mi, Peter (Kathy) Klonowski, San Diego, CA, and Susan (Jim) Kruse of Abu Dhabi; eleven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister Suzanne Saba and grandson, Kevin Maitland.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 12 noon on Wednesday, July 8, at St John’s Catholic Church, Ubly. Rev. Fr. Charles Hammond, pastor will officiate with burial at Mt Elliott Cemetery, Detroit.
The family will receive friends at St. Johns Church from 10:00 AM until the time of mass on Wednesday.
