Norma J. Cartwright, age 66, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, following a two month illness. Norma was born December 27, 1942 in Caro, the daughter of the late Floyd E. and Iva L. (ODell) Bell. The family moved to Mayville when Norma was eight years old, and she graduated from Mayville High School with the class of 1960. She was united in marriage with William “Bill” Cartwright on January 14, 1961 in Mayville, and the couple made their home in Caro. Norma was employed at the Caro Regional Center for twenty years, retiring in 1992. For many years, Bill and Norma attended the First Baptist Church in Caro. She was passionate about her family and thoroughly enjoyed traveling with Bill. Norma is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Bill Cartwright of Caro; three children and their spouses, David & Laura Cartwright of Grand Rapids, Crystal & Michael Wagner of Caro, Angela & Robert Venema of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jana & Jesse Ferree of Caro, Scott Cartwright, Adam Cartwright, Daniel Cartwright and Benjamin Cartwright, all of Grand Rapids, Julie Venema and Valerie Venema of Battle Creek, Christy & Chris Whetstone of Mio; two brothers and their spouses, Dean & Sandy Bell of Caro, Doug & Donna Bell of Lakeland, Florida and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by an infant sister, Madelyn Bell in 1936, and a grandson, Jeffrey J. Cartwright in 2002.
