Norma Jane Freville

Norma Jane Freville of Caro, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Covenant Healthcare Cooper in Saginaw. She was born in Cass City on March 19, 1937, the daughter of the late Earl and Ora (Hamilton) Harris. Norma graduated from Cass City High School and went on to co-own Caro Furniture with her first husband, Nick Decker. She also worked at Manasse Jewelry in Caro and then the Tuscola County Medical Care Community. Norma volunteered with The Forget-Me-Nots and Colwood Youth for many years and was a faithful member of Colwood Church, always sitting in the second row from the front.

She adored her cats, Mama, Baby, and Blackie, loved listening to Gospel music and going to live concerts and Bay Shore Gospel Music Convention. Norma enjoyed eating out, going on cruises, and playing euchre. She was a great dancer and loved to round dance and square dance. Norma faithfully supported the Colwood Red Shirts Softball teams, always helping wash their shirts. She loved watching and attending her great-granddaughter’s basketball and softball games. Spending time with her family and friends was one of her greatest joys.

Norma leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Nancy (Ken) Tomlinson; daughter-in-law, Jane Decker; step-children, Dena (Dan) Torrez and David (Robin) Freville; grandchildren, Eric (Kristy) Tomlinson, Craig (Heather) Tomlinson, Tanner Torrez, Danielle Freville and Garrett Freville; great-grandchildren, Bree, Olivia, Sally, Chandler, Seeley, Drake, Darla, and Everlee; great-great-grandson, David; dear friends, Marcy Brinkman and Donna Rhodes; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her second husband, Fran Freville; son, Neil Decker; grandson, David Freville; and siblings, Newell Harris and Joyce Hampshire.

Norma’s memorial service will be on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Colwood Church in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. There will be visiting on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her service.
