Norma Hazel Kapa of Mayville, age 85, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Timberline Lodge in Caro following an extended illness. She was born July 15, 1930 in Caro, the daughter of the late Norman A. and Hazel B. (English) Stephens. Norma was united in marriage with Chester Kapa on May 1, 1948 at the Methodist Church in Caro, and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2005. She was employed at the Caro Regional Center as a Resident Care Aide for more than thirty years, retiring in 1983. Norma will be remembered for her amazing ability to cook and bake anything and while her husband was farming, Norma would care for their home and family. She had a very artistic nature and could grow anything, as evidenced by her beautiful flower gardens. Norma is survived by two children, Fred Kapa and his wife, Tamie of Caro, Char Fisher of Mayville; two grandsons and their spouses, Joe & Briana Fisher of Dallas, Texas, Derek & Shannon Kapa of Cleveland, South Carolina; step-grandchildren, Joel & Amy Grassmann of Florissant, Colorado and Amie Grassmann of Caro; two great-grandsons, Joseph, Jr. and Justin Fisher; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, one brother and their spouses, Dorothy Brink of Akron, Velma Jean & Robert Burkhart of Caro, and Howard & Linda Stephens of Akron; brother- and sister-in-law, Art & Judy Kapa; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, infant Ruby Stephens, Edith Knaggs and Robert Stephens. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Taylor McManigell officiating. Burial will follow at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Caro American Legion Post #7.
