Norman Edward Lupton

Norman Edward Lupton of Caro, age 76, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at McLaren - Bay Region in Bay City, following a period of declining health. Norm was born June 28, 1945 in Bay City, the son of the late Don and Lucille (Williams) Lupton. Much of his childhood was spent in Fairgrove, where he graduated from Akron-Fairgrove High School with the class of 1963. He played for a brief time with the Detroit Tigers farm team, the Toledo Mudhens, before returning home to attend Northeastern School of Commerce in Bay City, earning a degree in business and accounting in 1967. On January 20, 1968, Norm was united in marriage with Shirley Kuisel in Sebewaing and the couple celebrated fifty-four years together. Following his schooling, Norm worked for Sherwin-Williams in Bay City and Midland before taking an accounting position with Karl Leppien in Pigeon, later transferring to Caro. He was most proud of the subsequent twenty years spent with the State of Michigan as a school auditor, a position that took him across the state into countless school districts. In addition, he spent over thirty years in private accounting and founded Norman E. Lupton, Inc. in 1984. He seemed to possess unlimited energy and a unique work ethic acquired from years of his childhood spent on the family farm. He was passionate about his career but was also deeply committed to improving his community and helping others. Norm was a constant presence at the Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 F. & A.M. in Caro where he was a past worshipful master and was currently serving as the organization's treasurer. He was devoted to impacting children's lives with Mt. Moriah Lodge Endowment Fund for local students attending college and the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Norm could also be seen in many area parades with his fellow Shriners in their mini cars or at various events of the Bay City Consistory. He was a former president of the Caro Lions Club and was awarded for his twenty-years of perfect attendance. Norm was an active member of the Caro United Methodist Church and served as an usher and member of the finance committee. Most importantly, life for Norm revolved around his family. If his sons were involved with an organization, Norm was sure to be active as well. He served as a baseball coach, Cub and Boy Scout Leader, and more recently was thrilled to hold the title of doting grandfather. He enjoyed camping, fishing, NASCAR, and was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers. Naturally handy, he was a talented woodworker and enjoyed restoring classic cars. Norm's quick wit, unique laugh, and selfless spirit will be missed by a countless many. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Shirley Lupton of Caro; two sons and their spouses, Kevin & Amy Lupton of Clarkston, Brian & Jacqueline Lupton of Huntington Woods; five grandchildren, Kendall, Olivia, Tyler, Alexia, and Carter Lupton; one brother and his wife, Ural & Joy Lupton of Fairgrove; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, Norm was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Ann; and two brothers, Melvin "Bill" and his wife, Grace Lupton, and Robert Donald Lupton.
