Olga Lukasavitz, age 89 years, of Cass City and formerly of Caro, passed away peacefully at Tendercare in Cass City on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, after a long illness. She was born on March 21, 1917 in Youngstown, Ohio to John and Rosa (nee Briener) Petrich. Olga moved to Detroit in 1937 and attended calculator school for one year. She worked at Bohn Aluminum and Brass Corporation in Detroit. The former Olga Petrich married Daniel Dominick Lukasavitz in September of 1945 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1987. Olga and her beloved Danny moved to the family farm on Plain Road near Deford in 1949. From 1954 to 1981, Olga was a secretary at Caro Community Schools and truly loved the interaction with kids. She was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Wilmot and the Forget-Me-Not Club. She is fondly remembered as the “Card Lady” due to her sending cards or handkerchiefs for special occasions. Olga loved interaction with others, whether at the school, church, or going out to eat at various restaurants. She is survived by one niece, Carol Leslie of Sun City, Arizona; a great-niece and great-nephew, Sherry and Frank Yacucci of Austintown, Ohio; as well as many friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William; and a sister, Darwina. The Funeral Liturgy will be at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Wilmot on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal will be at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Sister Riccardina will lead a vigil for the deceased at the funeral home Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or St. Michaels Catholic Church.
