Olive Jeanine Wurm

Olive Jeanine Wurm, age 89, of Sebewaing, passed away July 18, 2019, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.

Jean was born December 30, 1929, in Cass City, to the late Floyd and Ida (Simmons) Zapfe. She graduated from Owendale High School in 1946. On November 27, 1948, she married Robert Lee Wurm, at New Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.

Jean was employed at General Cable, Cass City, as a telephone cord coiler, and then at Evans Products, Gagetown, assembling railroad car interior racks. After her children were grown, she stayed home tending to her large vegetable and flower gardens, babysat her grandchildren and traveled with Robert to his job sites throughout Michigan and Wisconsin. She always had projects going from gardening, canning, cooking, sewing to deer hunting, fishing and traveling.

Jean is survived by her daughters: Deborah Andrakowicz and Cynthia (Randall) Buchholz; grandchildren: Lisa (John) McCain and Jeffrey (Kimberly) Buchholz; great grandchildren: Connor and Carson McCain and Jameson Buchholz; siblings and spouse, Iris Bauer and Orval and Helen Zapfe; brother-in-law, Daniel Thaut; and many nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, of 70 years on April 19, 2019; siblings and their spouses: Doris Louise Zapfe, Harold Zapfe, David Bauer, Gordon and Lillian Roe, Deloris Thaut and Floyd 'Bud' and Rose Zapfe; son-in-law, Stanley Andrakowicz; father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Katherine Wurm; brothers and sister-in-laws: Louis Wurm, Ralph and Marian Payment, Edward Mill and Helma Mill Koch, Dr. Douglas and Ruby Johnson, and Donald and Pearl Wurm.
