Onalee Smith Thick

Onalee Smith Thick of Caro, age 84, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Vadavilla AFC Home in Unionville. Onalee was born March 27, 1934 in Caro, the daughter of the late Leondes and Hazel Humes. She was united in marriage with Richard Smith on July 14, 1951 in Caro, and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1991. She then married Charles Thick on October 4, 1992 in Caro. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2009. Onalee was employed as an attendant nurse at the Caro Regional Center for more than thirty-seven years, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed taking care of her family, and loved knitting, crocheting and word books. Onalee attended the Deford Community Church. She is survived by three sons, Leland Smith and his wife, Jennifer, of Caro, Roger Smith of Lansing, James Smith and Mallory McFarland of Cass City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Humes and his wife, Sarah, of Caro, and Leon Humes of Unionville. In addition to her parents and husbands, Onalee was preceded in death by one son, Michael Smith; one daughter, Leona Hewitt; and one sister, Dora. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at the East Dayton Cemetery.
